Readings in Peculiar Locations

Peculiar Works began with informal play readings over a few summers and they continue to be a vital part of our development process. Most of these are small events where we invite our most- trusted theater peers to give the project artists important feedback on their work. That's often how we get a play ready for a Worksites presentation. When we do present public staged readings, we approach them much as we do our regular productions: we find interesting locations to showcase the work, bring together the best artists we know and offer our guests peculiar refreshments! Over the last few summers, we've had the pleasure of presenting new plays by Johanna Adams, Susan Bernfield, S.M. Dale, Bryn Manion and Barry Rowell, as well as a pastiche of scenes from plays set in bars (performed, of course, in our favorite bar: Jimmy's No. 43!).
