In 2013, PWP led audiences on an epic adventure through New York City history over two floors of the James A. Farley post office in midtown Manhattan. In 2026, we're developing a new promenade by bringing together artists from multiple disciplines to create brand new works celebrating the city that we all call home.
The series of performance parties kicks off on April 30 with "All I Remember is Here", an evening dedicated to the people born and raised in New York City, inspired by the Langston Hughes poem, Second Generation: New York:
Mama
Remembers the four-leaf clover
And the bright blue Irish sky.
...
Papa
Remembers Poland,
Sleighs in the wintertime.
Tall snow-covered fir trees,
And faces frosty with rime.
...
All I remember is here—
This house.
This street,
This city—
And they're dear!
Over the next 18 months, our creative team will be joined by a rotating group of artists from across artistic disciplines—performance, dance, music, visual art, puppetry, and much more—to create new stories from more than four centuries of NYC history. Each quarter, we'll present an evening of these short works in theme-based cabarets at different venues around the five boroughs.
Each cabaret will take audiences on a 90-minute journey through the high and low points of the City: the activists who shaped its evolving landscape, the riots that reshaped it, the ordinary workers who built it, and the powerful elites who exploited them. And for the adventurous spectator, there’ll be opportunities for YOU to participate with trivia contests and an open mic to add your story to our NYC narrative!
ARTISTS: If you are interested in collaborating with our team on an upcoming cabaret event, just fill out a brief questionnaire about yourself and your art.
