In 2013, PWP led audiences on an epic adventure through New York City history over two floors of the James A. Farley post office in midtown Manhattan. In 2026, we're developing a new promenade by bringing together artists from multiple disciplines to create brand new works celebrating the city that we all call home.
Our series continues with two performances in November at one of the more peculiar locations we've ever invaded. I'm in NY but NY Ain't in Me, is all about the COMMUTERS: the people who come into New York City every day but live outside the 5 boroughs or just spend a lot of their time coming in by subway, railroad, bus, or automobile. So what better place to present this installment than IN the NYC subway system? Join us at the W4 St newsstand—mid-platform on the downtown B-D-F-M line&mdash for an incredible array of performances: music, puppetry, photography, live drawing, and short monologues by our cast.
Over the next 18 months, our creative team will be joined by a rotating group of artists from across artistic disciplines—performance, dance, music, visual art, puppetry, and much more—to create new stories from more than four centuries of NYC history. We'll be presenting a new evening of these short works in theme-based cabarets at different venues around the five boroughs. Each cabaret will take audiences on a 60-minute journey through the high and low points of the City: the activists who shaped its evolving landscape, the riots that reshaped it, the ordinary workers who built it, and the powerful elites who exploited them. And for the adventurous spectator, there’ll be opportunities for YOU to participate with trivia contests and an open mic to add your story to our NYC narrative!
ARTISTS: If you are interested in collaborating with our team on an upcoming cabaret event, just fill out a brief questionnaire about yourself and your art.
